The ACBC together with Global Enterprises Group is hosting a sundowner on “Insurance and Banking in China – an insider’s perspective”.

The keynote speaker: (Mr Zhu Bo) is the President of Bohai Property Insurance, Senior Economist and Professor of Tianjin University of Finance and Economics. Mr Zhu spent nearly 30 years in the top Chinese Insurance firm PICC (People’s Insurance Company of China) between 1986 and 2013. By the time Mr Zhu left PICC (Tianjin), he had 25 subsidiary firms and 1,700 staff in his care.

Mr Zhu left PICC in 2013 to become the President of Bohai Property Insurance, now looking after more than 200 subsidiary entities and a combined workforce of over 3,600 people. In addition to this, Bohai Property Insurance is an international JV with Insurance Australia Group (IAG) as a strategic investor. Mr Zhu is a sought-after economist, making regular appearances in written newspaper and televised CCTV articles.

Mr Zhu will walk us through a number of interesting topics seminar-style, including:

1. Synopsis on the emergence, de-regulation and growth of the Chinese Insurance and general Financial Sector from the 1980’s to now

2. The effect of state ownership on SOE’s management and operations in the Insurance and Financial Sector

3. An insider’s perspective of working in an Australia-China financial JV on the ground in China
